Materials and Techniques
Materials
Our use of materials, the science and engineering behind them is exceptionally broad, both in terms of the materials used - [metals, ceramics, polymers, glasses, composites, stones, paints, tints, oils, varnishes and glazes] and those of the disciplines embraced.
Surface Preparation
Our skill is in using these substances
in a wide range of techniques so as to obtain the finest finishes. The creation of a surface suitable for its intended use.
Preparation as always is as important as the finishing skills used, every stage must be perfect to obtain the result you require and we demand of ourselves. Without a perfect substrate layer weather proofing as well as the finished effect cannot be fully realised

At time we have to work in strange places !
Techniques
How do Our artists work and how do they use the materials they use ?
Well, they all seem to work differently. All with their own techniques and methods! Architectural and garden projects need differing materials than those used for interior illusions.
Most techniques such as blending layers meticulously and degrading textures naturally also need "building up" until the magic appears.
Training, practice and creativity are the hard won skills. I am always surprised in the end , the quality and realism just oozes from their finishes.
How and with what materials do our Artists work
Their materials vary. some use commercial oil paints, drying agents, textures and a series of varnishes. Others use specialist paints and processes that only a deep understanding of the technology and material science behind them allows their use successfully.
Mainly these specialist materials are used for the architectural, garden and other exterior commissions where long term and harsh environments could damage and destroy finishes that use commercial products. The techniques are quite well known for interiors such as oil dragging and layers, airbrushing and colour filter glazes. With exterior projects, protection from the weather is an added vital factor, allowing for natural weathering and stable faux patinas as well as using materials that will not be effected by (or prevent) the natral formation of mosses and deposits that will over time further enhance the effects we have produced for you..
